Disaster Prevention Festival
A local festival for disaster prevention and reduction
The “Lake Town Disaster Prevention Festival” has been held in Koshigaya Lake Town, Saitama prefecture every year since 2012 in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake which occurred in 2011.
The keywords of the festival are disaster prevention and reduction, and safety and security.
The festival aims to enable visitors to learn about these keywords through fun activities in order to increase their awareness of disaster prevention.
Past festivals have featured exhibits and test rides of special vehicles from the Self Defense Forces and fire departments and rooftop evacuation training with the police.
Further, in support of recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, participants can enjoy flavors delivered direct from producers at the various food booths at the festival.
